Today, let’s pack our bags and learn 15 essential words for travel and vacation, along with how to use them in real sentences.

1. Departure & Arrival (출발과 도착)
Read these out loud:
1. 여행 [yeo-haeng] - Travel / Trip
Usage: 다음 주에 한국 여행을 가요. (I am going on a trip to Korea next week.)
2. 여권 [yeo-gwon] - Passport
Usage: 공항에서 여권을 보여주세요. (Please show your passport at the airport.)
3. 비행기 표 [bi-haeng-gi pyo] - Plane ticket
Usage: 비행기 표를 예약했어요. (I booked a plane ticket.)
4. 공항 [gong-hang] - Airport 5. 환전 [hwan-jeon] - Currency exchange
Usage: 은행에서 환전하고 싶어요. (I want to exchange currency at the bank.)
2. Accommodation & Planning (숙소와 계획)
6. 숙소 [suk-so] - Accommodation (General)
7. 호텔 [ho-tel] - Hotel
Usage: 호텔이 정말 깨끗해요. (The hotel is really clean.)
8. 예약하다 [ye-yak-ha-da] - To book / To reserve
Usage: 식당을 예약했어요. (I made a reservation at the restaurant.)
9. 지도 [ji-do] - Map
Usage: 지도를 보고 길을 찾아요. (I look at the map and find the way.)
10. 짐 [jim] - Luggage / Baggage
Usage: 짐이 너무 무거워요. (The luggage is too heavy.)
3. Sightseeing & Actions (관광과 행동)
11. 관광지 [gwan-gwang-ji] - Tourist attraction
Usage: 서울에는 유명한 관광지가 많아요. (There are many famous tourist attractions in Seoul.)
12. 사진을 찍다 [sa-ji-neul jjik-da] - To take photos
Usage: 여기서 사진을 찍어도 돼요? (Is it okay to take a photo here?)
13. 기념품 [gi-nyeom-pum] - Souvenir
Usage: 친구 선물을 위해 기념품을 샀어요. (I bought a souvenir for my friend's gift.)
14. 구경하다 [gu-gyeong-ha-da] - To look around / To sightsee
Usage: 명동을 구경하고 싶어요. (I want to sightsee around Myeongdong.)
15. 휴가 [hyu-ga] - Vacation / Holiday
Usage: 이번 휴가에 제주도에 가요. (I am going to Jeju Island this vacation.)
4. Soona's Culture Tip: The "Booking" Culture in Korea
In South Korea, almost everything can be (and often must be) booked in advance through smartphone apps. From popular restaurants to train tickets (KTX), "예약" (Booking) is key!
If you are planning to visit a famous restaurant in Gangnam or Hongdae, check if they use an app like "CatchTable" or "Tabling." If you don't have a reservation, you might see a long line of people waiting outside!
