Learn Korean with News: Korean Fortune-Telling & Personality Tests - Saju, MBTI & Gunghap
Hello, Korean learners! It's Soona. If you have ever made Korean friends, you have probably been asked this question right after your age: "What is your MBTI?"
In Korea, trying to figure out someone's personality or predict the future is almost like a national pastime! In the past, people asked about your blood type (혈액형) to guess your personality, but now the 16-type MBTI has completely taken over. But it doesn't stop there! Many Koreans also visit traditional fortune-tellers to read their '사주' (Four Pillars of Destiny) based on their birth time, especially around the New Year. Furthermore, before getting married, many couples check their '궁합' (marital compatibility) to see if they are a good match astrologically!
While some people blindly trust these, for most Koreans, it’s just a highly entertaining conversation starter that breathes vitality into relationships. In today’s interactive lesson, we will dive into these fun superstitions and personality trends while mastering practical intermediate grammar patterns: 'N에 따라(서)' (Depending on N), 'A/V-(으)ㄴ/는 편이다' (To tend to / To be on the... side), and 'A/V-다면서요?' (I heard that... is it true?).
Be sure to click the sentences in the interactive module below to listen to the premium native audio, and practice your speaking out loud! Let’s explore the fun and mystical side of Korean culture and upgrade your Korean fluency today!
